Work

My work experience over the years.

Technical lead

Freelance • March 2024 - present

As a freelance tech lead and software developer I help with all kinds of development-related challenges. I’m always looking for places where I can truly make an impact.

Some of my projects:

Shops United: Carrier integrations for e-commerce platforms.

Shops United and Parcel Pro have built integrations with dozens of carriers and e-commerce systems, allowing businesses to easily offer various shipping methods while also saving on shipping costs. Here I’m helping the team improve their processes and way of working, while also making a push for technical improvements such as continuous deployments and dashboarding.

Technical lead

Infi • March 2021 - July 2024

At Infi I’m part of the group that started Infi Nijmegen in 2021, as we set out to expand our reach more east. As part of setting up a new location I took on some additional roles besides programming, like office management, administrative tasks, recruitment, etc. However, my main focus is being a full-stack developer and tech/team lead.

Some of the projects I’ve done at Infi:

BAS World: Online vehicle sales and resell platform.

BAS World has a huge online platform for selling new and used trucks, trailers, machinery, etc. What started as a sales-oriented business grew to be an IT-heavy company, which could use a helping hand in growing and scaling their platform. We helped them separate parts of the application from their monolith, set up new frontend projects in React, introduced logging and monitoring, and much more.

Tracey: Shipping intelligence for e-commerce.

We helped Tracey scale up their AI-driven data platform by setting up a microservices architecture, which allowed them to individually scale services as needed, giving them more flexibility and throughput. We did this by taking parts from their Python monolith, and extracting them into separate services which are connected via RabbitMQ.

Klicq: Smart business mobility as a service.

For Klicq we’re building a new mobility platform, which would enable employers and employees to improve their business mobility, and encourage ride sharing. This platform also means to integrate with various administration tools, to automate all the processes around ride registration, salaries and compensation.

Sustainability tooling advisor

Freelance, Regio Foodvalley • April 2020 - September 2020

The efforts to transition to clean energy in the Netherlands are done on a local level, and led by the municipalities. Here there are various challenges, like involving the residents as much as possible, keeping all relevant actors up to date, sharing information and documents, etc. I was tasked with finding out what the specific challenges are, and how these can be solved with different kinds of tools.

Sails IT • June 2019 - January 2020

A large part of construction workforce are freelancers. This means that finding and matching, the right people to the right projects can be a huge task, not to mention the administration surrounding this. Global Link aimed to solve that issue, by providing a platform that makes this whole process clear and simple.

Storyteq logo

Back-end developer

Freelance, Storyteq • June 2019 - August 2019

At Storyteq I helped the team rethink their software architecture and set up continuous integration and deployment. We started a transition from a monolithic app to a microservices-based architecture by extracting components into services with Node.js and RabbitMQ.

Xillio logo

Software developer

Xillio • November 2014 - June 2019

Xillio specialises in content migration projects and tooling to make those easier. When I started here I was helping them build their custom scripting language called Xill and its accompanying IDE. Xill is a domain-specific language made to easily script all sorts of migrations.

As Xill matured we switched focus to a new product: the Xillio API, a unified content API that allows you to connect to all sorts of content repositories in a unified way. It does this by providing a generic entity model which can represent a file, web page, comment, etc. This meant that once you write an integration with our API, you can access dozens of systems without needing any specific knowledge about those systems. This tremendously speeds up development for all kinds of applications, like migration, archival, content analysis, and many more integrations.

Pre-sales engineer

Being a pre-sales engineer at Xillio was a small sidestep from development to help improve the customer sales and onboarding experience. This ranged from joining sales calls to answer more abstract technical questions to helping existing customers solve concrete problems.
